Top Ten Tuesday: Instant Literary Attraction

written by Leslie April 18, 2017

Happy Tuesday! It’s especially happy when you don’t have to be at work!!! Since it’s Tuesday, it means it’s time for TOP TEN TUESDAY hosted by The Broke and the Bookish. Click here to learn more about how to join in.

This week’s topic is Top Ten Things That Will Make Me Instantly Want To Read A Book. For me, this is all about book covers and titles. I will buy any book if I fall in love with the cover or the title.  So here are some of the books I’ve bought based on those things alone.

Top Ten Book Covers and Book Titles That Hooked Me

Book Covers

(I haven’t read any of these books yet. Haha. I just own them)

10. It Started With Goodbye (Christina June)

Blue and green are my signature colors :). And the string of lights. Reminds me of summer nights. I fell in love.

9. The Coincidence of Coconut Cake (Amy Reichert)

Cake. That’s all. Sold.

8. The Museum of Heartbreak (Meg Leder)

I love the box of random stuff. And the title font.

7. Made You Up (Francesca Zappia)

The blues in this cover drew me in instantly.

6. The Way Back to You (Michelle Andreani and Mindi Scott)

I love a sunset and these colors reminded me of that. The signs remind me of the different pointed signs I saw in Ireland. And that made me happy.

Book Titles

(I’ve actually read all these! Yay for me!)

5. Withering Tights (Louise Rennison)

Okay, so I was going to read this series anyway because I loved Georgia Nicolson so much. But all the titles are funny versions of Shakespeare plays. The literature nerd in me is giddy as can be!

4. The Day the Crayons Quit (Drew Daywalt)

One of my favorite things about teaching 6th grade is that we can still do projects with coloring. I love coloring! This book did not disappoint.

3. The Cupcake Queen (Heather Helper)

Cupcakes. The end.

2. It Looked Different on the Model (Laurie Notaro)

All of the books in this series have titles I love. Another is “We Thought You Would Be Prettier”. Lol. And the books are just as funny as their titles! Totally recommend them if you want a good laugh.

1. Buried Onions (Gary Soto)

It just seemed like such an odd title. I really enjoyed it. If you like a good tough kid story, I recommend it.

What makes you buy a book? Which of my 5 cover-love books should I start first?

xo, Leslie
