Welcome to another week of Music Match-Up. This is where music and literature join together to form the perfect friendship. Today’s pairing may seem a bit odd. But just read on! There’s a reason…
#Famous // Sade
I haven’t gotten very far into the book, but it’s great so far. Rachel is one of those girls who just blends into the background of high school. The unnoticed kind. That is until she snaps a picture of cute, popular Kyle as he works at Burger Barn. She posts it on Flit (like Twitter, I think), and within hours he becomes a social media sensation. And she gets some unwanted attention, too. I discovered that the author was inspired by the Alex from Target story. (Someone snapped a photo of “this cute guy at my Target” and it also became a social media sensation). And that leads me to the music connection…
I have a “Robert from Target.” One day, my friend and I were checking out at Target and Robert was our cashier. He was always super chatty, a friendly guy. Somehow we got talking about going home and relaxing, and Robert shared with us that he always couldn’t wait to get home and relax with some Sade. Ever since that encounter, we became fascinated with Robert and his love for Sade. We’d always try to go to his checkout line–a checkout sensation instead of a social media sensation, in this case. A year or so ago, we stopped seeing him there. But I know wherever he is or wherever he works now, he’s relaxing with his favorite, Sade. So for no other reason than that, #Famous belongs with Sade.
