Someone placed it there. A neon green wooden chair parked in the middle of the city sidewalk on an ordinary Wednesday. Men and women in business suits and those casually strolling with shopping bags passed by, slowing down to stare, some even stopping to gaze. Then they moved on, shaking their heads and looking over their shoulders as if to ponder one final time, Should I do it? But the chair remained empty for hours. So finally, I got up from behind my desk and walked out the front door of the office and straight over to the chair. And I sat down.
Today I was the girl who dared to sit in that green chair.
