It could be the best of times, but it’s really just the worst of times, this tale of two water bottles. She’s supposed to drink more water. Then her skin wouldn’t be so dry and she might have more energy on her runs. You’d think that would be motivation. Or maybe the fact that her last blood test results described her as having “borderline kidney function”. The doctor pshooed that away, saying it was from the fasting. But no, she knew better; her water bottle guilt screamed it at her.
So why won’t she just drink the water? It’s one of the great mysteries of life. But what she lacks in follow-through, she makes up for in dedication. Because each morning she fills up those water bottles and carries them everywhere she goes. Always one in hand. Always hoping this is the day she’ll dedicate herself to more water. And always disappointing herself.
