He came down to the shoreline to meet her at the appointed time. He had suggested sunrise, secretly hoping it would lead to an entire day together. She had paused–ever so slightly–but she finally agreed. He hoped she would already be there, but sunrise wasn’t an exact time. So he waited, watching the waves slowly roll in and the water inch closer and closer to him. But with each passing moment, the sun rose higher and higher in the sky. And there was no sign of her.
