Okay, so it’s not technically a poem, but it is poetic…
Love
Love is the younger sister of Patience, Courage, and Beauty. She depends on her older sisters for survival; they feed her and clothe her. Love can be a difficult sibling, frustrating her family with her unconventional ways and powerful yearnings. But they will never abandon her just because she causes trouble.
Love has always been a dreamy child, often in trouble with the nuns at school. She plays and laughs with her friends on the jungle gym, and she’ll disappear suddenly. Her friends look around, but all they see is the playground bully Confusion.
Love’s desire is to grow old with Certainty, but she knows they cannot be together. They have tried, but jealous Time and his son Change have always interfered. This, however, hasn’t stopped them from meeting daily in her garden to gaze at rosebuds. And when Love’s desire begins to turn into despair, she visits her aunt Faith who calms her. Then she is not afraid of anything.
