Happy Tuesday! Welcome to this week’s Top Ten Tuesday via The Broke and the Bookish. The theme for this week is Unique Book Titles. I don’t know that the titles on my list are unique, but they are titles that I enjoy for one reason or another…
Top Ten Great Book Titles
10. A Handful of Dust
This is a great title because it fits the book perfectly. This book was so bad, it is as valuable to me as a handful of dust!
9. Turtles All the Way Down
This is a great title because I have no idea what the book is about from the title. Is it about a turtle habitat? Does someone go down a flight of stairs and there is a turtle on each step? Is it about a crowd of turtles taking over the annual July 4th parade, marching all the way down Main Street? See…I’m perplexed but interested! (Yes, I know I could just read the blurb, but what’s the fun in that?)
8. The Taming of the Tights
I love how each book in this series is a Shakespeare title using the word ‘tights’. Brilliant, as they say over in England.
7. How to Break a Boy
I still want to know!!!!! Because I still haven’t read it!!! (I blame The Female of the Species for being $1.99 on Kindle so I couldn’t resist and then being so good that it kept me reading!)
6. A Heartbreaking Work of Staggering Genius
Great. Just great.
5. The Importance of Being Earnest
I love a title with a double meaning
4. The Only Thing Worse Than Me Is You
Funny.
3. The Unbearable Lightness of Being
I love contrasting words in a title as well.
2. Go the F*** to Sleep
Ha ha ha ha ha….. and Lol.
1. We Thought You Would Be Prettier
Really, any comedian’s book title could be here. I love all of Laurie Notaro’s titles. Mindy Kaling’s Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me? (And Other Concerns) is hilarious too.
Chasing Eveline
Just a fun fact since we’re talking titles…did you know that my YA debut was originally called The Mary Kennedys? (That was the original band name.) Of course you didn’t know that. Haha. And that I have no idea how I arrived at Chasing Eveline once I decided it needed a new name? A series of scribbles and cross-outs and hair pulling….and voila! Chasing Eveline 🙂
What are some of your favorite book titles?
