Top Ten Tuesday: Books for My Mom

written by Leslie May 16, 2017

Happiest of Tuesdays! I received probably the BEST piece of mail ever today, so this is like THE BEST TUESDAY EVER! And as if this cake needed anymore icing, it’s TOP TEN TUESDAY today, as well! Hop on over to The Broke and The Bookish to find out more.

This week’s topic is a Mother’s Day freebie. So I thought I’d create a list of books I’ve either recommended to my mom (with success!) or would recommend. She is a romantic comedy, happily-ever-after kind of gal. So, sorry, no Thirteen Reasons Why on this list! Lol.

Top Ten Book Recommendations for My Mom

10. Something Borrowed, Emily Giffin

A classic chick lit book. My mom actually read Something Blue before I did!

9. Confessions of a Shopaholic, Sophie Kinsella

Another fun summer read. Then we watched the movie together.

8. The Cardturner, Louis Sachar

My mom loves bridge! She tried to teach me once, and I was little more than a confused emoji.

7. Someday, Someday Maybe, Lauren Graham

After all the Gilmore Girls episodes my mom has watched me watch, it didn’t take much to get her to agree to read this.

6. Bridget Jones’s Diary, Helen Fielding

Neither of us read past this first one, but we both enjoyed it and the movie as well.

5. The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants, Ann Brashares

We both loved all four of these books and watching the movies together

4. The Help, Kathryn Stockett

Not exactly a romantic comedy. Not sure why I recommended this! Haha. But we both loved it and then loved watching the movie!

3. The Devil Wears Prada, Lauren Weisberger

This was another fun summer read. And yes, you guessed it…we love watching the movie!

2. Gone Girl, Gillian Flynn

I’m really not sure why I recommended this book! Not even close to a romantic comedy. πŸ™‚ We both were sort of perplexed by it and not sure if we liked it. And I won’t even say itΒ  because I know you know the second part… but this time, we DIDN’T enjoy it πŸ™‚

1. Chasing Eveline, Leslie Hauser

Hahahahaha…it’s my own book. Of course I recommended it to my mom. And of course she loved it. She’s my mom after all! She just finished her ARC! πŸ™‚

What kinds of books do your moms love? My friend’s mom loves horror! Haha, so far from my You’ve Got Mail mom πŸ™‚ I’d love to hear about your amazing moms!
