It’s Tuesday, and that means that there are still three more days until Friday. 🙁 It also means that it’s time for another Top Ten Tuesday, brought to you by The Broke and the Bookish. Click here for more information on this awesome site and weekly blog hop.
This week the topic is “Ten Finished Series I Have YET to Finish.” There’s just one problem: I am much too orderly to let a series (or anything) linger unfinished. Therefore, I cannot come up with 10. Or 1. (I assume that “finish” means I’ve started it. Of course there are millions of series I have yet to start. Like the one on hyperbole.) So instead, I bring you…
Top Ten Series I Was Totally Serious About Finishing
Twilight. It started because I wanted to see what the hype was all about. It ended with my engagement to Edward.
The Princess Diaries. Mia Thermopolis embodies how cool I wish I were when I’m a dork. (Don’t get me started on the movies. I’ll have a rage blackout.)
Confessions of Georgia Nicholson. A British Mia Thermopolis. Could my life get any better? I awaited each book with more anticipation than I do a batch of cookies in the oven. (*The series was slightly marred by the mid-series change in book covers. Why do publishers do that? Are they trying to ruin my pretty shelves?)
Perfect Chemistry. A little bit of a letdown. The first book was amazing, but by the last I was skimming. I reread the first one three times. So that in itself is a series I loved.
Harry Potter. Of course I read Harry Potter. I live on Earth after all. I didn’t start until the 5th book had already come out, and for that I’m grateful. I can’t imagine surviving all the waiting between books. I also can’t imagine that I’d like a fantasy series so much. (That’s why I was late to the party.) ♥ Hedwig and Dobby ♥
The Hunger Games. Yes, late to this party, too. I blame the hype. I don’t like hype. Or bandwagons. Or trends. I read Catching Fire in one sitting on a beach in Hawaii. I think all books should be read in this manner.
The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants. Reads a chapter “Ahh, I have to keep reading to find out what Lena does.” Next chapter ends. “Crap, now I have to keep reading to find out about Carmen.” Reads next chapter. “C’mon now. Now I have to find out about Bridget.” That Ann Brashares…she’s a tricky lady.
Misadventures of Tallulah Casey. I was so sad when Georgia Nicholson was done laughing on a fast camel. I almost needed therapy. Then this happened. And I was saved. I’m not sure if this series is ended, but I’m all caught up.
Anna and the French Kiss. Is this a true series? I’m not sure, but I’m making the rules and therefore it is. (I needed one more to get to ten.) Kissing is great. The world needs more kissing.
Thursday Next novels. These are the best books ever. EVER. Thursday Next is Nancy Drew meets Bridget Jones. Getting lost in a Wordsworth poem? Characters from Jane Eyre getting kidnapped out of the pages? It’s an English major’s dream.
