Okay, I know…the alliteration doesn’t quite work in this post title. But that’s the topic for this week’s edition of TOP TEN TUESDAY brought to you by The Broke and the Bookish. It’s a throwback freebie week.
Today, instead of flashing back to older books, I want to flashback to one of my very first posts as a participant in TTT. (I was going to throwback to my very first post, but it was really bad! haha. I hadn’t learned about graphics or writing descriptions. lol) This was such a fun one. I added in the pictures this time. If you want to see it in all its newbie glory, you can see it here.
Top Ten Characters I’ve Unfollowed on Instagram
10. Caitlyn (Dreamland, Sarah Dessen)
Caitlyn, I think I didn’t like you mostly because you dated a guy named Rogerson. That’s not even a name. And you were a little too edgy for me. I have an inner nerd whom I need to protect.
9. Brooke (So Much Closer, Susane Colasanti)
Boy transfers to a different city, and you move to be closer to him. You show up at his new school. In a new town! I understand having a crush, Brooke, but that just seems creepy.
8. Ethan Frome (Ethan Frome, Edith Wharton)
Can someone please explain to me how I’m supposed to have empathy for the sad plights of the characters in the classics when they make such obviously poor decisions? Ethan, you are pathetic and we cannot be friends.
7, 6. Mark and Byron (That Was Then, This Is Now, S.E. Hinton)
Hey guys, guess what? I threw your book against the wall after reading that ending. You are the worst friends ever. Period.
5. Dolores Price (She’s Come Undone, Wally Lamb)
I’m sorry for your troubles, Dolores. But rape, obesity, parental death, obsession, abortion, and suicide? It’s just too much drama for me.
4. Hudson (Bittersweet, Sarah Ockler)
I wanted to be interested in your skating and you know I love cupcakes. But I just couldn’t get excited about your life. I’m pretty sure it’s not you, it’s me.
3. Tony Last (A Handful of Dust, Evelyn Waugh)
When life is bad, going to the middle of the jungle isn’t really the best answer, Tony. The only good thing I got out of knowing you was “Hard Cheese on Tony”. Best chapter title ever.
2. Colby (The Disenchantments, Nina LaCour)
Colby, I’m going to be brutally honest: at times I couldn’t tell if you were a girl or a boy. I needed a little more masculinity. Sorry.
1. Bella (Twilight, Stephenie Meyer)
OMG. You are so whiny. I can’t take it anymore. And your movie-actress-double didn’t help matters.
