…And we’re back. My dog ate the blog post last week. And that was after the power went out and I had to pick my grandmother up at the airport and we ran out of gas. Which only made me late for a doctor appointment, so I didn’t get the medication I needed to clear up my upset stomach.
But today, I have…
…so it’s time for Top Ten Tuesday, brought to you by The Broke and the Bookish. Click here to learn more. This week’s topic is a Halloween-themed freebie. Since I don’t read scary books and don’t watch scary movies, the extent of my Halloweenosity is the tried-and-true It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown. So in honor of this Greatest Halloween Special Ever, I present…
BOOKS THE PEANUTS GANG WOULD BRING TO THE PUMPKIN PATCH WHILE WAITING FOR THE GREAT PUMPKIN
Linus
“On Halloween night, the Great Pumpkin rises out of the pumpkin patch and flies through the air to bring toys to all the good little children. Wouldn’t you like to sit with me in the pumpkin patch on Halloween night and wait for the Great Pumpkin?”
The one who believes in this would most surely be reading books about magic and a lonely boy setting out on a magical journey.
Sally
“Linus, you always say the cutest things.”
Sally would totally bring a book to the pumpkin patch because it’s pink and is about Cupid. And she’d love a book called Me! Just Like You, Only Better.
Lucy
“Can I have an extra piece of candy for my stupid brother? He couldn’t come with us ’cause he’s sitting in a pumpkin patch waiting for the Great Pumpkin. It’s so embarrassing to have to ask for something extra for that blockhead Linus.”
I’m not altogether sure Lucy even reads. But if she did, I’m pretty sure she’d either just pick a book for its title and use it to make fun of Linus or she’d read a book about sibling frustration.
Charlie Brown
Josh from We Should Hang Out Sometime is someone who would also get rocks while trick-or-treating. And Charlie Brown probably would’ve picked up the Meg Cabot book thinking it was a self-help book, to which Lucy would say, “You blockhead, that’s a girl’s book.”
Snoopy
“^^^ ^^^^^^^ ^^^^^^ ^^ ^^^ ^^^^^^^.”
Snoopy probably wouldn’t make it because he’s getting ready for the Christmas lights and display contest. But if he did show up, he’d bring a book about the WWI Flying Ace. And it would be a “rapid read” for sure.
Peppermint PattyPeppermint Patty wouldn’t show up because she wasn’t in this special. She’s at home having Marcie read this book to her. After all, she was known to have said, “Golly, why can’t I act right outside of a baseball game?”
Do you watch the Peanuts specials? Do you love them? Who is your favorite Peanuts character? Happy Halloween!
